Born and raised in the woods and lakes of Central Florida, Captain Max grew up fishing hundreds of lakes, the Gulf Coast, and Florida’s East Coast. From an early age, time on the water wasn’t just a hobby — it was a way of life.
In 2012, Max moved to Florida’s Treasure Coast while his wife Myriaha was deployed in the Army. That season of life allowed him to fully chase his passion for fishing and begin turning it into something more than just a pastime.
Over the years, Max has fished throughout Florida, the Bahamas, and Mexico. Each location sharpened his ability to adapt to changing conditions, read water, and adjust techniques when the plan needs to shift.
Eventually, the fulfillment of putting friends and family on trophy fish made one thing clear — guiding wasn’t just an interest. It was the path forward.
After a career as a Master HVAC Marine Technician, Max earned his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License and launched Split Tail Guide Service full time.
Today, his focus is simple: create memorable days on the water while putting clients in the best position to succeed.
He understands that no two days on the water are identical. Success comes from preparation, patience, and the ability to pivot.
If you have a specific species in mind, let him know at booking — he prepares accordingly.
The ecosystem is constantly changing. Captain Max believes in responsible fishing practices that protect the future of the fishery.
He practices CPR — Catch, Picture, Release — whenever possible.
If you would like to keep fish within legal limits for dinner, simply communicate that ahead of time.
The goal is not just catching fish today — it’s preserving the experience for tomorrow.
